A coveted number plate, CC 22, sold for a staggering Dhs 8.35 million, setting a new benchmark at the 118th open auction for exclusive vehicle plates hosted by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) .

The auction marked a historic milestone, generating nearly Dhs 100 million in total sales—the highest-ever proceeds in the RTA’s auction history.

  • BB 19 – Dhs 6.68 million

  • AA 707 – Dhs 3.31 million

  • AA 222 – Dhs 3.3 million

The auction featured a total of 90 premium number plates across two, three, four, and five-digit formats, covering codes such as AA, BB, CC, I, J, O, P, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z. While the nominal value of the plates stood at Dhs 16.565 million, competitive bidding pushed the final sales figure to Dhs 98.83 million.

The RTA’s open and online auction platforms continue to attract strong interest, thanks to their reputation for fairness, transparency, and accessibility.

These auctions provide car enthusiasts and collectors with a reliable avenue to purchase plates that hold both personal meaning and significant prestige.

How to participate in auction?

To participate in the auction, bidders were required to hold a valid Dubai traffic file and pay a registration fee of Dhs 120, along with a Dhs 25,000 security deposit via cheque. Registration was available through the RTA website, mobile app, or at Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha. All purchases were subject to a 5% VAT, and payments could also be made using credit cards through digital platforms.
