Centena Group reported a 22.5% year-on-year growth in its Middle East operations for 2024, driven by rising demand for education and industrial technology solutions. Qatar led regional performance with over 35% growth.
Education leads demand
The company’s education division, ATLAB, recorded 60% growth, supported by increased government focus on STEAM education and interest in AI- and robotics-based learning. The education sector remained a major driver of Centena’s overall performance.
AI, marine, and security
Investments in AI and expansion across divisions such as marine technology, industrial process solutions, and secure identification also contributed to the company’s results. Notably, ScreenCheck, its ID and security unit, saw strong regional uptake of biometric and AI-enabled access solutions.
Centena also scaled up its lab furniture unit, LABSPACE, with a facility expansion in Umm Al Quwain to meet growing GCC demand for turnkey lab infrastructure in education and research.
Among key 2024 developments was EDGE, under Maritronics, securing Lloyd’s Register Type Approval for its Fibre Optic Gyro navigation system, enhancing its global standing in marine technology. Emphor DLAS, Centena’s analytical division, became the authorised distributor for PerkinElmer in the UAE and Qatar.
Sanjay Raghunath, Chairman and Managing Director of Centena Group, said: “The growth we achieved in 2024 reflects the region’s strong appetite for innovative solutions and our potential to deliver value across different verticals. At Centena, we are committed to contributing towards making the world a better place by leveraging cutting-edge technologies across all our divisions.”
