Employers across the UAE are increasingly turning to local universities like BITS Pilani Dubai Campus (BPDC) to meet their talent needs.

This trend was evident at BPDC’s 10th Annual Career Fair, which recently drew its highest-ever participation, reflecting a broader shift in how companies source early-career professionals.

In a shift from past editions, this year’s fair was fully digital. Over 1,800 job applications were submitted via a mobile app, with more than 200 students marked as top candidates by participating companies. Organizers say the move not only reduced paper usage but also streamlined the hiring process.

A growing employer turnout

A total of 79 companies — up nearly 44% from the previous year — participated in this year’s event, held in Dubai International Academic City.

The lineup included more than 20 multinational firms such as Beiersdorf, Schindler, and Deriv, along with large local employers like Al Shirawi Group and Emirates Post. Small and medium-sized enterprises also showed strong interest, suggesting that the search for local talent spans all business sizes.

Employers at the event represented fast-growing industries including artificial intelligence, IT, fintech, engineering, and consumer goods.

The turnout is being seen as a sign of both the demand for skilled graduates and the strengthening link between academia and industry.

As the UAE continues to focus on innovation, local talent development, and economic diversification, institutions like BITS Pilani Dubai are playing a larger role in preparing graduates for the workforce. Career fairs like this one are becoming key platforms where businesses can connect directly with potential hires—helping both sides adapt to a changing job market.
