The Abu Dhabi-Aqaba flight is now part of Royal Jordanian’s expanded UAE-Jordan network, giving travellers in the capital a direct option to southern Jordan instead of connecting through Amman.
The airline announced the new service at a Dubai event showcasing its ExploRJordan tourism campaign, which promotes destinations and experiences across the kingdom.
Abu Dhabi-Aqaba flight adds direct access to southern Jordan
Royal Jordanian is operating two weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Aqaba, alongside its existing services linking the UAE with Amman.
The airline’s UAE-Jordan schedule now totals nearly 40 direct flights a week:
- Dubai-Amman: 21 flights weekly
- Sharjah-Amman: 7 flights weekly
- Abu Dhabi-Amman: 9 flights weekly
- Abu Dhabi-Aqaba: 2 flights weekly
For UAE travellers, the new route provides a direct gateway to Aqaba, Jordan’s Red Sea city and a key tourism destination in the south.
What the new Abu Dhabi-Aqaba route means for travellers
The route puts travellers arriving from Abu Dhabi closer to Jordan’s Golden Triangle, made up of Aqaba, Petra and Wadi Rum.
Rather than flying to Amman and travelling south, passengers can now reach Aqaba directly, making the city a more convenient starting point for exploring the region.
The Dubai event also highlighted other Jordanian destinations, including the Dead Sea and Amman, alongside the country’s historical, cultural, nature, adventure, beach and leisure attractions.
Royal Jordanian promotes wider Jordan tourism
The new Abu Dhabi-Aqaba flight was introduced alongside ExploRJordan, Royal Jordanian’s tourism campaign designed to encourage visitors to look beyond the country’s traditional landmarks.
The airline said the campaign aims to showcase the range of experiences available across Jordan, while the expanded network is intended to strengthen connections between Jordan and key regional markets.
Royal Jordanian also said it is continuing to expand its network, modernise its fleet and improve the passenger experience as part of its broader growth strategy.
