Al Wathba is preparing for one of the UAE’s biggest New Year’s Eve events as the Higher Committee of the Sheikh Zayed Festival confirms a large-scale programme that includes a 62-minute fireworks show and what is expected to be the world’s largest drone display.

The committee said the fireworks will run in five stages, starting at 8 pm and ending with a continuous 62-minute display at midnight. The show aims to break five new Guinness World Records and will use advanced launch and synchronization technology to light up the Al Wathba skyline.

World’s largest drone display

The festival will also feature a drone show using 6,500 drones in a single 20-minute performance. The display includes nine large aerial formations shown for the first time, coordinated with a digital countdown and integrated with the main fireworks.

According to the organisers, official sponsors and strategic partners will take part across the festival grounds, offering cultural activations, lighting and laser support, and artistic and musical programmes. Government partners will present interactive experiences focused on Emirati heritage, while participating countries will host parades, musical shows and cultural demonstrations throughout the evening.

Family attractions

The festival will include traditional Emirati performances such as Al Ayala, Al Razfa and Al Nadooba, along with international groups. Families can attend children’s shows at the Kids’ Theatre and visit Wonderland, which opened in December 2025 as a new entertainment area for young visitors.

The Higher Committee said operational measures have been expanded for the expected high turnout. These include more entry and exit gates, wider walkways, increased safety and medical support, and additional field teams to manage visitor flow. Entry will close once capacity is reached.

The committee encouraged the public to follow official festival channels and secure tickets early. Organisers said the programme reflects the festival’s goal of delivering a major New Year celebration that combines heritage, technology and global entertainment as the country welcomes 2026.
