Antique Cars, Pakistan’s First Online Museum, launched “Engineered Time” Coffee Table Book at the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) in a private exclusive event that was graced by people from all walks of life in Karachi.
It was a night that took us back in time and memory. The 1925-built architecture of the Hindu Gymkhana that now houses NAPA came alive with a museum-like display of 20 antique cars from a century old to the modern day young classics as the befitting backdrop for this memorable occasion. Jarri Masood, CEO of NAPA, said, “We support and encourage arts and culture in Pakistan and are happy that this book launch is happening at NAPA”.
This photography-based book is a first of its kind in Pakistan, and it brings together a passionate collection of antique cars that are owned by collectors here. All the photography is through the singular lens of Efrah Shaukat, a talented young automotive photographer.
Speaking on the occasion, Shoaib Qureshy, Founder of Antique Cars Museum, said, “Each automobile within this book may not be seen every day on the roads here, but they are very much here in Pakistan and now preserved in this book to be enjoyed whenever you like”.
“This coffee table book is a tribute to all the collectors, restorers, mechanics, and all the people who take care of these globally valued automotive treasures despite the huge challenges that we face here in Pakistan. Its only through their dedication, that the past is not static — it remains beautifully, powerfully, in motion.”
