Union Coop, NRTC to boost UAE local food supply chain

Union Coop has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NRTC Dubai International Vegetables & Fruits Trading LLC to support locally produced goods and improve supply chain efficiency in the UAE.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the ‘Make it in the Emirates’ initiative, organised by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s industrial sector and promote local products.

The MoU was signed by Shuaib Al Hammadi, Director of Community Relations at Union Coop, and Mohamed Al Rifai, Group CEO of NRTC, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

Focus areas

The partnership will focus on increasing the availability of UAE-grown products, improving operational efficiency, and exploring opportunities in innovation and technology. Both sides will also work on joint marketing initiatives aimed at supporting the national economy.

Shuaib Al Hammadi said: “This partnership represents an important milestone in our vision to support local production and enhance the sustainability of supply chains within the UAE. At Union Coop, we believe in building strategic alliances with trusted partners such as NRTC to deliver added value to consumers, while also supporting the UAE’s direction toward food security and sustainable development.”
