New agreement to boost hazardous materials safety in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi has taken a new step to strengthen hazardous materials management through a strategic agreement between the Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Center and Rabdan Academy.

The two entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance national readiness, develop specialised talent, and improve regulatory and operational systems linked to hazardous materials across the emirate.

Agreement details

The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Center by  Khalfan Abdullah Al Mansoori, Acting Director General of the Center, and H.E. Salem Saeed Al Saeedi, Vice President of Rabdan Academy, in the presence of officials from both sides.

The partnership focuses on building an integrated and sustainable national framework for hazardous materials management. It includes cooperation in technical knowledge exchange, specialised training programmes, and joint scientific and applied research.

Both parties will also organise seminars, conferences and workshops, and provide advisory and technical support to strengthen institutional capacity.

Growing industrial demand

The agreement comes as Abu Dhabi records continued economic and industrial growth. This expansion requires advanced systems to manage hazardous materials safely at every stage, from transport and storage to use and disposal.

Under the MoU, the two sides will work on developing professional training programmes and research projects aligned with international standards and best practices.

Salem Saeed Al Saeedi said hazardous materials management plays a central role in national preparedness due to its regulatory, operational and security links.

He added that the partnership reflects integration between regulatory expertise and academic knowledge, and that Rabdan Academy will develop specialised academic and professional programmes supported by applied research to prepare leaders and experts capable of managing hazardous materials across their lifecycle.

The collaboration supports Abu Dhabi’s wider strategy to strengthen public safety systems and develop knowledge-based capabilities in critical sectors.
