One-Point Air Travelers

The UAE and the Kingdom of Bahrain have begun the pilot phase of the “One-Point Air Travelers” project. The initiative is designed to make travel easier for citizens of both countries, reducing waiting times at airports and saving time and effort.

It is also expected to boost trade, support economic growth, strengthen regional cooperation, and improve infrastructure integration between the two nations.

Purpose and Implementation

In the UAE, the project is managed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, while in Bahrain it is handled by the Ministry of Interior in coordination with other regional authorities. The first phase covers Zayed International Airport in the UAE and Bahrain International Airport. The project allows citizens traveling by air between the two countries to complete entry procedures before departure, using electronic connectivity, biometric verification, surveillance technologies, e-gates, and advanced passenger data processing.

Benefits for travelers

By completing entry procedures in advance, passengers will experience less congestion at arrival airports, faster entry processes, and a more seamless and comfortable journey. The system also ensures a high level of security while safeguarding privacy and personal data. This innovative approach aims to make travel smoother and more efficient for both Emirati and Bahraini citizens.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, described the project as a reflection of the GCC’s commitment to safe and convenient travel. He emphasized that it would increase tourism and trade between the UAE and Bahrain and strengthen regional and international cooperation through advanced technologies and data exchange systems. Mohammed Ahmed Al Kuwaiti, Acting Director-General of Ports at the Authority, called the project a major step toward smart mobility, improving the travel experience and quality of life through digital solutions and governmental integration.

Captain Majed Al Marzouqi of Etihad Airways praised the initiative as a pioneering effort that redefines the travel experience between the UAE and Bahrain. He noted that passengers on Etihad flights will benefit from completing entry procedures in advance, moving smoothly from departure to arrival. He added that the project positions the region as a leader in smart aviation and sets a model for future integrated travel systems.

The “One-Point Air Travelers” project marks a significant milestone in modernizing air travel between the UAE and Bahrain. It is expected to expand in the future, enhancing tourism, trade, and passenger experience across the Gulf while positioning both countries’ airports as advanced smart travel hubs.
