Air India Express has announced a limited-period baggage offer for passengers travelling from the Gulf to India, giving travellers the option to pre-book extra check-in baggage at reduced rates.
The offer applies to flights from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, with bookings open until January 31, 2026, for travel between January 16 and March 10, 2026.
Discounted baggage option
Passengers can pre-purchase 5 kg or 10 kg of additional check-in baggage at fixed rates depending on the country of departure. The charges are BHD 0.2 from Bahrain, KWD 0.2 from Kuwait, OMR 0.2 from Oman, QAR 2 from Qatar, SAR 2 from Saudi Arabia, and Dhs 2 from the UAE.
The airline said the additional baggage must be booked during the ticket booking process and is subject to availability.
Eligible fare types
The offer is available across all fare categories, including Xpress Value, Xpress Lite, Xpress Flex and Xpress Biz. However, it is only valid when added during the booking flow and cannot be purchased later.
Air India Express already provides a minimum check-in baggage allowance of 30 kg on these routes, except for the Xpress Lite fare, which does not include check-in baggage.
With the additional baggage option, eligible passengers can carry up to 40 kg of check-in baggage on flights to India. The airline said this may benefit travellers carrying personal belongings and items for family visits during the travel period.
Bookings can be made through the airline’s website, mobile app and major travel booking platforms.
