Dubai Run draws record 307,000 participants

Dubai’s streets were filled with runners on Saturday as 307,000 people took part in Dubai Run, part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) 2025, making it the world’s largest free community run.

Participants gathered along Sheikh Zayed Road from early morning, led by police supercars, and ran past iconic landmarks including the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal, Burj Khalifa, and Dubai Mall. Families, casual joggers, and seasoned athletes joined the event, which offered 5km and 10km routes to accommodate different fitness levels.

The 5km route passed through Downtown Dubai, finishing near Dubai Mall, while the 10km course covered Sheikh Zayed Road and DIFC Gate Building.

Entertainment and atmosphere

The run featured a range of entertainment, including aerial paramotors, giant LED puppets, drumming crews, DJs from UNTOLD, and celebrity MCs Kris Fade and Katie Overy. Marching bands, stilt walkers, and circus performers cheered participants along the route. Finishers were welcomed with bubble arches, mist sprays, and celebratory mascots.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, said:

“Witnessing 307,000 runners take over our streets this morning is a testament to Dubai’s incredible community spirit. In the UAE’s ‘Year of Community,’ Dubai Run, presented by Mai Dubai, perfectly captured what we’re building together – a city where fitness unites people across all backgrounds and abilities. Watching families run alongside elite athletes, seeing children complete their first 5km and witnessing the pure excitement across every finish line reminds us why this event has become such a cherished part of DFC’s calendar. This event has grown exponentially since its inception, and today’s turnout demonstrates that our vision of an active, healthy Dubai continues to inspire residents and visitors alike.”

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), added:

“Dubai Run, presented by Mai Dubai, showcased our city as a global wellness destination. With UAE flags proudly displayed at the start line, we witnessed people from across the globe united through one run – global brands, international participants, and communities coming together to celebrate health and wellbeing. This morning exemplified Dubai’s ability to create inclusive spaces where the world comes together to move, connect, and thrive.”

Dubai Fitness Challenge continues

DFC 2025 will conclude with Dubai Yoga on Nov. 30 at Zabeel Park, featuring a sunset session focused on mindfulness, balance, and wellbeing. Registration for the free event is available at dubaiyoga.ae.

In addition to the flagship events, the challenge includes free 30×30 Fitness Villages, Community Fitness Hubs, and thousands of classes citywide, allowing participants to complete the 30×30 fitness target.

Dubai Run was organised by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Dubai Sports Council, with Mai Dubai as presenting partner, alongside multiple corporate and government partners.
