The UAE has introduced new minimum salary requirements for residents sponsoring family members or friends for visas. This update means residents must earn a certain monthly income to sponsor relatives or friends to live in the country.
UAE visa for family, relatives and friends
For sponsoring immediate family members such as spouses, children, or parents, the minimum salary requirement is Dh4,000 per month.
For second- or third-degree relatives, including siblings, grandparents, or uncles and aunts, sponsors must earn at least Dh8,000 monthly. Those looking to sponsor friends will need to meet a higher threshold of Dh15,000 per month.
These changes aim to ensure that sponsors have the financial means to support their dependents, promoting responsible sponsorship and easing the burden on public resources. Besides the income requirements, sponsors must also meet other conditions like providing adequate housing and health insurance for their dependents.
The new salary requirements are part of wider visa regulation updates by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), designed to regulate residency permits and visa issuance more effectively.
Residents planning to bring family members or friends to the UAE should review these new rules carefully before applying for sponsorship. It is advisable to check with official authorities or trusted sources to confirm eligibility and prepare the necessary documents.
