Etihad touches down with daily A380 flights to Toronto

Etihad Airways has launched daily Airbus A380 flights to Toronto, increasing capacity on the route by 31% and bringing its largest aircraft to Canadian skies for the first time.

The first A380 flight landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport on June 24 and was welcomed with a traditional water-cannon salute. The move comes as the UAE’s national carrier approaches 20 years of operations in Canada.

Higher capacity, growing demand

The deployment of the A380 between Zayed International Airport and Toronto responds to continued demand for travel between the UAE and Canada, especially for business, leisure, and family visits.

Etihad first launched service to Toronto in 2005.

Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, said: “We are proud to introduce the A380 and offer guests flying between Abu Dhabi and Canada an extraordinary new travel experience with Etihad. Toronto has been a cornerstone of our North American network since 2005, when we became the first airline from the Gulf region to operate flights to Canada. The introduction of our flagship aircraft on this route reflects our deep commitment to the Canadian market.”

Cabin options onboard

Etihad’s A380 offers a total of 486 seats across four cabin types:

  • The Residence: A private suite with a living room, bedroom, and en-suite bathroom with a shower.

  • First Apartments: Nine enclosed suites with 80-inch lie-flat beds and a separate ottoman seat.

  • Business Studios: Seventy lie-flat seats with aisle access and access to The Lobby, an onboard lounge.

  • Economy Smart Seats: 405 seats with adjustable headrests, including 68 extra legroom seats.

Stopover in Abu Dhabi

Etihad is also promoting its Abu Dhabi stopover programme for travellers between Canada and the UAE. Passengers can enjoy complimentary hotel stays and explore the city’s cultural sites, beaches, and attractions during their transit.
