A shift in focus and new trends

This year’s festival showcased a variety of new features and trends. His Excellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of SGMB, remarked in his closing speech that Xposure has evolved beyond photography to include cinema and documentary filmmaking. He emphasized, “Xposure is no longer just about photography. Today, cinema and documentary filmmaking are integral to its fabric, standing alongside exhibitions by some of the world’s most renowned photographers and visual artists.”

One of the key highlights of this year’s event was the introduction of a new category in the International Photography Awards for AI-generated photography, sparking conversation about the intersection of technology and human creativity. Additionally, the festival hosted the 4th Environmental Summit, highlighting the work of photographers and journalists focused on environmental conservation.

The closing ceremony also saw His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, honor distinguished photographers, filmmakers, and partners who contributed to the festival’s success. “For nine years, Your Highness, you have been the driving force behind this journey,” said Tariq Saeed Allay, acknowledging the leadership of Sheikh Sultan in shaping Xposure into a global event.
