BurJuman Mall, one of Dubai’s oldest and most iconic shopping destinations, is set to roll out a new ticketless paid parking system, enhancing the convenience for its visitors. This move comes as part of the mall’s efforts to adopt more advanced technology and streamline the parking experience for shoppers.
Ticketless parking at BurJuman Mall
The introduction of this system follows the successful implementation of similar ticketless parking solutions at other major malls in Dubai, such as Mall of the Emirates and Deira City Centre. In fact, Dubai Mall introduced a ticketless system last year, setting the stage for more malls in the city to follow suit.
BurJuman’s smart parking system will rely on Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology to automatically capture vehicle license plates and calculate parking fees without the need for physical tickets. This marks a significant step toward a more paperless and efficient parking experience. While the traditional barriers will remain in place, motorists will no longer need to stop to get a physical ticket. Instead, the barriers will automatically rise as vehicles approach, allowing for a smoother and quicker entry.
Parking fees and free parking
The parking rates at BurJuman will remain the same under the new system. Visitors can enjoy the first three hours of parking for free, making it more affordable for those who wish to stay for a short period. After the initial three hours, parking will be charged at Dhs 20 per additional hour or part thereof.
Free Parking:
- The first three hours are free.
- Sundays and public holidays will also feature free parking throughout the day.
Cinema Goers:
- Moviegoers will receive an extra three hours of free parking with validation from the cinema ticket counter.
Other Charges:
An overnight parking violation will incur a penalty of Dhs 250 per day.
There will be a penalty of Dhs 200 for any lost or misused tickets.
These changes aim to provide a more streamlined experience for BurJuman’s visitors while also encouraging more sustainable parking practices.
‘Find My Car’ option
In addition to the ticketless parking system, BurJuman is also introducing a “Find My Car” service to assist visitors in locating their parked vehicles within the mall’s large parking areas. This is especially helpful for those who may forget where they parked in the busy facility. The new system is designed to reduce congestion and make parking navigation easier.
Notices regarding these changes have been displayed around the parking area, and an announcement on the mall’s website encourages visitors to stay tuned for further updates on the “Smart Parking” upgrades.
As Dubai continues to embrace smarter, more efficient technologies, the move to ticketless parking at BurJuman Mall promises to provide a more convenient, user-friendly experience for shoppers, while also reducing the amount of paper waste generated from traditional parking tickets.
While BurJuman has not yet specified the exact date for the full rollout of the ticketless system, many shoppers have already noticed the transition. The mall’s website and notices around the parking areas indicate that the new system is coming soon, making it an exciting development for those who frequent the iconic mall.
As more malls in Dubai adopt similar systems, the city is poised to enhance its reputation as a hub for innovative, smart solutions in retail and public infrastructure.
