In just two hours after starting the amnesty for people who have overstayed their visas, 15 companies have stepped up to offer jobs to those looking to fix their residency status and stay in the UAE.

This information was shared by General Obaid Muhair Bin Suroor, Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDFRA), at the settlement center in Al Aweer, Dubai.

In the first half hour alone, the center received requests from 100 people who had overstayed their visas. Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDFRA, confirmed that 15 big private companies are now providing job opportunities for those who want to stay in the UAE legally, Arabic daily Al Khaleej reported.

He also mentioned that the procedures for 100 people were completed within just the first 30 minutes of the amnesty. The Al Aweer settlement center is equipped to handle 2,000 visitors a day and there are also 86 Amer centers across the emirate to help.

GDRFA teams are on hand to guide visitors through the steps needed to regularize their status.
