Residents in the UAE have the option to secure a residence permit for their newborns under the sponsorship of a parent working in the private sector or a free zone. This process involves specific requirements and a fee of Dhs350, as detailed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP).
Residence permit for newborn baby in UAE
The residence permit application can be completed through several channels provided by ICP:
- Online Channels: Visit the ICP website or use the UAEICP smart application. Log in with your digital ID or username, locate the service, fill in the required information, and make the payment.
- In-person: Visit customer happiness centers or approved typing offices. These locations facilitate the submission of required documents and payment.
Requirements
To proceed with the application, ensure the following:
- The newborn’s passport must be valid for more than one month from the date of application.
- Complete the application within 120 days of the newborn’s arrival in the UAE to avoid penalties.
Required Documents
Prepare the following documents for the application:
- UAE ID of the sponsor (parent)
- Original passport of the sponsored newborn, valid for at least 6 months
- Salary certificate of the sponsor
- Copy of sponsor’s passport
- Colored personal photo of the newborn
- Birth certificate of the newborn
- Emirates IDs of both parents
- Employment contract of the sponsor
- Rental contract (if applicable)
- Copy of health insurance
- Mother’s passport copy
Fees and Refunds
The residence permit issuance costs Dhs350, inclusive of various fees:
- Dhs100 as application fees
- Dhs100 as issuance fees
- Dhs100 as smart services fees
- Dhs50 as electronic services fees
ICP processes applications within 30 days. Rejected applications may be due to incomplete data or missing documents. If an application is rejected three times, only issuance fees and financial guarantees, if any, are refundable.
Refunds are issued via credit card within six months from the application date. Alternatively, refunds can be processed via cheque or bank transfer to UAE-based banks within five years, according to ICP guidelines.
