At the World Government Summit (WGS) 2026, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) took a major step toward revolutionizing urban transport by signing a landmark partnership with The Boring Company, a leader in cutting-edge tunnel systems and innovative transportation solutions.
The strategic collaboration will bring to life the Dubai Loop, a groundbreaking underground tunnel project designed to enhance mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and improve the efficiency of public transport in Dubai’s high-density areas.
This ambitious initiative is set to introduce advanced tunneling technologies to create faster, more cost-effective transport solutions. The Dubai Loop will connect key districts, including Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Dubai Mall, and Business Bay, revolutionizing the way people move across the city.

Dubai Loop
Dubai’s RTA has partnered with The Boring Company to implement the Dubai Loop project.
The first phase will feature a 6.4 km pilot route linking DIFC and Dubai Mall, with four stations.
The full project will expand to 22.2 km, with 19 stations, connecting Dubai World Trade Centre and Business Bay.
The tunnels for the project will have a diameter of 3.6 meters, specifically designed for vehicle transport.
The estimated cost for the first phase of the project is Dhs 565 million, with completion expected in one year.
The total cost of the full Dubai Loop project is around Dhs 2 billion, with an estimated completion timeline of three years.
The pilot phase is projected to serve approximately 13,000 passengers per day; the full system is expected to serve 30,000 passengers daily.
The Dubai Loop will provide efficient first- and last-mile solutions, integrating seamlessly with other transport modes.
