Dubai is now home to the world’s largest visa application centre, as VFS Global officially opened its new flagship facility in Wafi City.

The 150,000-square-foot centre is designed to process up to 10,000 visa applications daily and serve over 200 nationalities.

The centre was inaugurated by His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism; His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai; and Zubin Karkaria, Founder and CEO of VFS Global.

Boosting global mobility

The launch supports Dubai’s broader economic and mobility goals. “This milestone is more than an infrastructure achievement — it reflects the strategic direction Dubai is taking to enhance global mobility, unlock access to opportunity, and accelerate growth across our visitor and business economy,” said H.E. Helal Saeed Almarri.

H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri added: “We witnessed the inauguration of a new milestone in the journey of excellence pursued by the UAE… strengthening the nation’s position as a global hub for smart services.”

Tech-driven customer service

The facility features over 400 staff from 25+ nationalities and a wide range of customer-focused amenities. These include:

  • QR code-based check-ins and touchscreen info kiosks

  • Self-service photo booths and document stations

  • Spacious waiting areas with buggy services

  • Prayer rooms, children’s play zones, and accessibility features

A total of 79 Premium Lounge counters and two Platinum Lounge suites offer elevated application services, including chauffeur-driven access and private processing.

AI and innovation at core

The centre integrates artificial intelligence for real-time document validation, advanced biometrics, and a Digitization Centre for secure record-keeping. It also hosts a 24/7 Global Resilience Center to ensure continuous operations and data protection for partner governments.
