The UAE Fatwa Council has announced the amounts for Zakat Al Fitr and various expiations (kaffarah) for the year 2025.
For Zakat Al Fitr, the amount is set at 2.5 kg of rice per person, valued at Dhs 25. This can benefit one or more individuals, ensuring those in need are supported during the holy month.
The Kaffarah for breaking a fast during Ramadan is 3.25 kg of wheat per poor person, valued at Dhs 15. This totals Dhs 900 and can benefit 60 poor individuals. For those who are unable to fast, Fidyah is also set at 3.25 kg of wheat per day, with a value of Dhs 15, benefiting one poor person.
If a person has missed obligatory fasts and has passed away, the Kaffarah for a deceased person is 3.25 kg of wheat per day, with a value of Dhs 15, benefiting one poor person. Similarly, the Kaffarah for delayed fasts without an excuse is also 3.25 kg of wheat, valued at Dhs 15, and can benefit one poor person.
For those who break an oath, the Kaffarah for breaking an oath is 3.25 kg of wheat per poor person, valued at Dhs 15, benefiting 10 poor individuals, totaling Dhs 150. The Kaffarah for Zihar (a form of divorce) is 3.25 kg of wheat per poor person, valued at Dhs 15, benefiting 60 poor individuals, totaling Dhs 900.
Lastly, Fidyah for committing a prohibited act during pilgrimage is 3.25 kg of wheat per poor person, valued at Dhs 15, benefiting six poor individuals, totaling Dhs 90.
The Council emphasizes that all amounts should be distributed to the poor and needy to ensure they receive the necessary support and assistance.
