The UAE has allocated US$10 million in emergency aid to support people affected by severe floods and landslides in Nepal, where the disaster has caused deaths, injuries, missing people and widespread damage.
The funding has been allocated through the UAE Aid Agency under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to WAM.
The emergency assistance will support relief efforts for communities affected by the disaster, with UAE teams working alongside local authorities and international organisations to help deliver aid.
UAE aid for Nepal
The UAE Aid Agency said its teams are coordinating with authorities and international organisations on the ground to identify affected communities and ensure assistance reaches those who need it.
The response is expected to support women, men and children affected by the floods and landslides.
The UAE has also expressed its solidarity with Nepal following the disaster, which has caused significant loss of life and damage.
Relief efforts underway
Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Amiri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, said the UAE’s humanitarian response reflects its focus on international cooperation and support for communities affected by natural disasters.
He also stressed the importance of coordinated humanitarian efforts to provide relief to people facing emergencies and help affected communities recover.
The US$10 million allocation forms part of the UAE’s immediate humanitarian response to the situation in Nepal.
UAE offers condolences
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs also conveyed its condolences to the families of those who died and to the government and people of Nepal.
The ministry expressed sympathy to those affected and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
