flydubai becomes first UAE carrier to fly to Benghazi

flydubai has launched its first flight to Benghazi in Libya, marking the airline as the first UAE carrier to operate direct services to Benghazi Benina International Airport.

The new route expands flydubai’s African network to 13 destinations across nine countries and adds more travel options between Dubai and the region. The inaugural flight was welcomed with a water cannon salute upon arrival at Benghazi Benina International Airport.

Africa expansion

With the start of three weekly flights, flydubai continues to grow its footprint in Africa, a market the airline describes as strategically important for its operations.

Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, said: “With the busy summer period upon us and as we continue to scale up our operations, our customers can benefit from a new gateway to Africa with the launch of our new nonstop service to Benghazi.

“We are already seeing healthy demand for our three weekly flights to Benghazi and look forward to growing our presence in Libya over the years. At flydubai, we have had a longstanding commitment to serving underserved markets and creating new opportunities for travel, trade and tourism, and having Benghazi as our newest destination reflects that commitment and reinforces our efforts to enhance connectivity to and from Dubai.”

Network growth

Sudhir Sreedharan, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at flydubai, said: “Africa remains a strategically important market for flydubai and we are pleased to have added Benghazi to our network. With its business and trade opportunities, we look forward to providing seamless travel options between Benghazi, Dubai and destinations across the flydubai network, where our customers can enjoy a comfortable travel experience in Business or Economy Class.”

The new service operates in partnership with Emirates through a codeshare agreement, allowing passengers to connect across a wider global network with a single ticket, through check-in of baggage, and coordinated itineraries.

Flights will operate from Terminal 3 at Dubai International (DXB) to Benghazi Benina International Airport (BEN) three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Return Business Class fares from Dubai start from Dhs10,500, while Economy Class Lite fares start from Dhs 4,500. From Benghazi, return Business Class fares start from USD 2,500 and Economy Class Lite fares start from USD 800.

The inaugural service strengthens flydubai’s expanding network across Africa and adds another direct link between Dubai and emerging regional destinations, supporting trade, tourism, and business travel connectivity.
