Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and Chairman and CEO of Burjeel Holdings, has announced a humanitarian support package worth Dhs 1 million for families affected by a fatal road accident on Dubai’s Emirates Road.

Relief package

The support will cover families of those killed and injured in the accident. Under the program, the families of seven deceased victims will receive Dhs 100,000 each. A total of Dhs 180,000 has been allocated for nine injured survivors, based on medical and recovery needs.

An additional Dhs 70,000 will go towards emergency travel and accommodation for family members, while Dhs 50,000 has been set aside for the education of children from affected families.

Support for families

The initiative is aimed at providing immediate relief and supporting the long-term needs of families who lost their primary earners. Special attention has been given to families with young children who depend on the victims.

The accident involved a minibus carrying employees of a Dubai-based company. The vehicle reportedly collided with a truck that had stopped on Emirates Road due to a technical fault.

Victims and injuries

According to updated details, the seven deceased included six Indian nationals and one Sri Lankan national. Among the Indian victims, three were from Uttar Pradesh and three from Telangana.

Of the nine injured, eight are Indian nationals, including two from Kerala, while one is a Nepali national. Five injured individuals have been discharged, while three remain under treatment in different hospitals.

Coordination with consulate

The support initiative has been shared with the Indian Consulate in Dubai to help coordinate assistance for affected families, particularly Indian nationals.

“While we are coordinating with the Indian Consulate regarding affected Indian families, support will extend to all individuals impacted by this tragedy, in recognition of our shared humanity,” Dr. Shamsheer said.

Condolences expressed

Dr. Shamsheer expressed grief over the incident, describing it as a reminder of the sacrifices made by workers supporting families in their home countries.

“This is a heartbreaking tragedy that has affected families across countries. These were workers who came here with hopes, responsibilities, and dreams for their loved ones. No financial support can replace the lives lost, but we hope this assistance will bring some relief to the grieving families and help the injured during their recovery. We stand with every affected family in this difficult time,” he added.
