The Space & Rocketry Academy (SARA UAE), operated by Compass International, has announced a new phase of expansion featuring training programmes and weekly workshops in space science, rocketry, artificial intelligence (AI), and sustainability.

Speaking at the launch, Ms. Lissy Donald, Managing Director of Compass International, said the initiative aims to empower future innovators while supporting the UAE’s vision for a knowledge-based economy.

The event at SARA’s Dubai campus featured former NASA astronaut Dr. Donald Thomas, Engr. Naser Al Rashdy from the National Space Academy, and Ms. Lina Lampkin, Chairwoman of AmCham Abu Dhabi. Dr. Thomas shared insights from his four Space Shuttle missions, encouraging students to pursue science and exploration.

Ms. Donald said the academy’s goal is to make world-class STEM learning accessible to students across the UAE through hands-on experience and mentorship. “Our workshops give students a chance to build rockets, design satellites, and apply AI and sustainability concepts as real tools for the future,” she said.

Engr. Al Rashdy noted that initiatives like SARA play a key role in preparing youth for the UAE’s expanding space and technology sectors. The launch also included astronaut training demonstrations and interactive space workshops, underscoring SARA’s focus on experiential learning and global collaboration.
