The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) has signed a new agreement with Parkin Company PJSC to manage thousands of mosque parking spaces across Dubai.
The partnership marks the first collaboration between the two entities, aiming to improve parking access for worshippers during prayer times.
Rollout begins August 2025
Under the first phase of the revenue-sharing agreement, Parkin will take over the management of approximately 2,100 parking spaces across 59 mosque sites. The operational rollout is expected to begin in August 2025.
Worshippers will be allowed to park for free for up to one hour during prayer times. Outside these periods, the spaces will be chargeable 24/7. Of the total sites, 41 will fall under Zone M (standard), while 18 will be designated as Zone MP (premium).
Improving mosque access
The initiative is part of efforts to ensure better access to mosques and promote fair use of parking spaces.
“This pioneering initiative between Parkin and IACAD prioritises community needs by enabling wider accessible parking while reducing misuse by non-visitors,” said Eng. Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin. “We are targeting to introduce this measure during August and look forward to how this collaboration will enhance the worshipper experience, streamlining parking efficiency around mosques.”
The new agreement will also increase Parkin’s private parking portfolio to around 20,800 spaces across the city.
Officials say the partnership reflects a broader push to integrate services across government and semi-government bodies.
H.E. Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director General of IACAD, said: “The signing of this agreement reflects our strong commitment to providing a comprehensive parking service around mosques, one that enhances the experience of worshippers during and beyond prayer times, while also supporting Dubai government’s vision of delivering smart, proactive mobility services that cater to the needs of all segments of society.”
Mr. Mohammed Musbeh Dhahi, Executive Director of the Charitable Work Sector at IACAD, noted the project would also support the monitoring and maintenance of mosque environments across Dubai.
Future phases of the partnership may include additional mosque locations managed by IACAD.
