This new bridge to connect Dubai–Al Ain Road to Nad Al Sheba

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will begin construction of a new two-lane bridge in Nad Al Sheba later this year, aiming to ease traffic flow for thousands of residents in the area.

The 700-metre bridge is designed to serve inbound traffic from Dubai–Al Ain Road, improving access to the growing residential community.

The bridge is expected to handle up to 2,600 vehicles per hour and reduce travel time from Dubai–Al Ain Road to Nad Al Sheba by 83%, cutting the journey from six minutes to just one.

Project timeline and scope

Construction is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025 and is set for completion by the end of 2026. According to the RTA, the project will support around 30,000 residents by easing congestion at entry and exit points in the area and improving overall mobility.

The bridge is part of the RTA’s broader strategy to accommodate Dubai’s urban growth and increasing population. The authority stated that the infrastructure development aligns with its focus on road safety and long-term sustainability.

Ongoing upgrades in area

The new project follows the recent inauguration of a 170-metre bridge at the intersection of Nad Al Sheba Street and Dubai–Al Ain Road. This existing bridge, with two lanes in each direction, has improved traffic movement towards Nad Al Sheba, Meydan, and nearby developments.

Other traffic enhancements in the area include:

  • Infrastructure upgrades near schools such as Repton School and Al Khaleej International School, which serve about 10,000 students.

  • New parking spaces and designated drop-off areas to ease congestion during peak hours.

  • Conversion of an intersection at Latifa bint Hamdan Street into a roundabout, reducing delay time by 50%.

  • Additional access points from Meydan Street, contributing to a 60% drop in travel time for local traffic.

Focus on local mobility

Internal road developments in Nad Al Sheba 1, 3, and 4 have also improved neighbourhood connectivity. RTA says these upgrades support its vision to provide integrated infrastructure that keeps pace with Dubai’s urban development.

The authority reiterated its commitment to public engagement and sustainable planning, noting that resident feedback plays a key role in shaping future mobility projects.
